Warrington improves accessibility for customers with mobility difficulties
Specsavers in Golden Square has invested more than £50,000 to improve its accessibility for customers with mobility difficulties.
As a result of the investment, the opticians and hearing centre has almost quadrupled the number of sight tests it carries out in its downstairs test rooms each day. The store can now test 40 people a day in the downstairs rooms, previously they could only carry out five.
Better care for customers
Specsavers was completely refurbished late last year in a bid to provide better care for its customers who struggled to manage the stairs. State-of-the-art Nidek equipment has been installed in the new, fully equipped downstairs test rooms, meaning the store can provide the highest possible levels of service.
The team is also able to offer more downstairs clinics to its diabetic and contact lens customers. The pre-test waiting area has been expanded, giving customers greater comfort and space during their visits and easing the experience for those with wheelchairs or pushchairs.
Making the store as accessible as possible
Store director Geoff Smith says, ‘The needs of our customers are our top priority and we are constantly seeking to improve their experience in store. We took any comments about the stairs very seriously have acted to make the store as accessible as possible for those with low mobility. ‘The improvements have already proved worthwhile; bookings for eye tests are increasing and our customers have been quick to commend the new ease of accessibility.’
Commitment to Warrington
Geoff says that the investment also represents Specsavers’ commitment to Warrington town centre, where the opticians has been based for the last 23 years: ‘The growth in business has allowed us to further invest in the store by taking on five new members of staff. Angela Koleff, Deborah Storey, Jane Toohey, Elysia Bartrop and Rachel Ellis have all been recruited as a direct result of the store development. ‘We look forward to many more years of business in Warrington and would like to thank our fantastic customers for their loyalty and support.’
