Children from all over Dunfermline are taking part in this year’s Alhambra Theatre Summer School, which is being sponsored by Specsavers.
The store has supported this year’s event where kids aged eight to 18 can learn to sing, dance and act all under the supervision of industry leading professionals.
The skills learnt will be put to the test at the start of August when the pupils will put on a performance at the Alhambra Theatre.
Specsavers has also provided the summer school with a range of props, including glasses to use in their production and a giant umbrella for the Mary Poppins part of the performance.
Grace Hepburn, director of the Specsavers Dunfermline store, says: ‘The team here at Specsavers are absolutely delighted to sponsor this year’s Alhambra Theatre Summer School.
‘We are committed to supporting young people in the arts so we decided to sponsor the event and also provide the performers with some props.
‘There may be a future Gerard Butler or Paolo Nutini amongst the group and we look forward to seeing the final performances in August.’
Claire Fletcher, PR Manager for the Alhambra Theatre says: ‘It is fantastic to have Specsavers as our main sponsor this year.
‘We are delighted to see the return of the Summer School. Every year we have seen an increase in participants, and are keen to ensure that each and every one of the 125 participants has a wonderful experience.
‘It is fantastic to watch the kids learn and grow in confidence in such a short space of time, and hugely rewarding for everyone involved with the Summer School experience.
‘We hope the Summer School continues to inspire and encourage young people to get involved in theatre and the arts.’
