Specsavers Galashiels played their part in Cash for Kids Superhero Day this year by donating a pair of designer glasses to a prize draw which helped raise £5,277 for disabled and disadvantaged local children.
Each year, Cash for Kids organises a Superhero Day, encouraging local businesses, individuals, schools and groups to bring out their inner hero, and come to the rescue of a nearby child in need.
Radio Borders collected over £10,000 worth of prizes from local businesses in their ‘Supervan’ that were then added to a huge prize fund. The radio station opened up a text competition with every penny generated from the texts directly going to the charity.
A word from our store director
Store director Stuart Forrester said: ‘We were thrilled to be able to support the Radio Borders Cash for Kids Superhero day this year. It’s such an effective way of making sure that disabled and disadvantaged local children receive the vital funds they need.’
Cash for kids is based across 22 areas of the UK, working from the heart of the community’s favourite radio stations. Every penny raised within the broadcast area stays there, to help a local child. The charity exists to support children who are disabled, disadvantaged, or suffering from abuse or neglect.
