Staff raised an impressive £377 during the store’s Red Nose Day fundraising. Customers took part in a game of ‘guess the teddy bear’s birthday’, a sweepstake, a bake sale and a sponsored walk around the perimeter of the town.

There was also a raffle for a meal voucher for the Tigh Na Mara hotel and restaurant in Sandhead. The store also stocked Specsavers’ Red Nose Day glasses in small and large sizes. The glasses cost £3 with £1 from each pair sold being donated to Comic Relief.

Elaine Hawthorn, store director of Specsavers Stranraer, said: ‘We’d like to thank all our customers - we've been overwhelmed by the support. Everyone’s so pleased that we were able to contribute a great amount to the Specsavers’ total.’
