Stranraer optician clocks up more than £200 for Quarriers
Staff at Stranraer's Specsavers store have aised hundreds of pounds for social care charity Quarriers in an in-store cycle.
The team cycled 50 miles on an exercise bike while taking donations for the charity – and their wheelie good efforts helped to raise a total of £231.
The activity was part of the store’s Quarriers Day – a day of fundraising and activities aimed at encouraging customers and members of the public to donate to the cause.
Fun and games
As well as the fun cycle, there was face painting, balloons, a home baking sale, a summer drawing competition for kids and games including ‘Find the Gruffalo’, with customers donating generously throughout the day.
Specsavers Stranraer director Elaine Hawthorn said: ‘The event was great fun and helped us to raise awareness of the work carried out by Quarriers across Scotland. We’re delighted with the amount we raised.
‘We would like to thank all the customers who donated and extend a special thank you to staff at the Ryan Centre in Stranraer who kindly gave us the bike for the day.’
