Eight Specsavers stores across Dorset are supporting grassroots football in the county by sponsoring this season’s youth cup matches and cup finals. The partnership, in its second year, kicked off at the Specsavers County Ground and includes the Specsavers Dorset Youth Cup for the 2019/2020 season which will see over 270 youth football teams competing.

The stores in Blandford Forum, Boscombe, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Weymouth and Winton are all on board, in what is a great result for all involved. The Youth Cup includes seven different age groups from under 10’s to under 16’s, with teams from across Dorset representing their clubs, and concludes with the finals which will be held at the Specsavers County Ground in April/May 2020.

Supporting grassroots football

Andreas Booth, regional chair for Specsavers in Dorset, said: ‘Specsavers stores across Dorset are delighted to support our local community and share a common goal here with the Dorset County Football Association (Dorset FA): to enhance everyone’s health and wellbeing, promoting physical activity among our younger residents.

‘Our financial investment will help the Dorset FA sustain and build the momentum achieved to date in making football accessible to everyone.

‘For us, to support this season’s youth cup football matches, which celebrate the love of this great game - in Dorset towns and villages where we have a Specsavers store – it is a real honour. We love the communities we serve and to be a further part of them through the football sponsorship is just amazing.’

Real commitment to community sport

Sue Hough, chief executive of the Dorset FA, added: 'Specsavers stores across Dorset sponsoring and attending this season’s youth cup matches is a real commitment to grassroots football and community sport.

'The board of directors of the Dorset FA is delighted to have this partnership with Specsavers. It’s a real boost to grassroots football across the county, working with us to foster and develop football for all in Dorset.'
