On Friday 29 March Specsavers stores across London will don their most stylish headgear to support Wear A Hat Day for the Brain Tumour Research charity. It is the UK’s biggest brain tumour research fundraising event and Specsavers are the official sponsor in 2019, with more than 800 locally-run stores we have previously participated in Wear A Hat Day for several years. The event is a great opportunity to help raise awareness that routine eye tests can detect signs of brain tumours.
What is Wear A Hat Day?
Wear A Hat Day has raised over a million pounds since Brain Tumour Research was launched ten years ago and is the culmination of Brain Tumour Awareness Month in March. The big day will see schools, workplaces, families and individuals across the UK fundraising and taking part in fun events to raise awareness of brain tumours and help fund life-saving research.
A word from Brain Tumour Research Chief Executive
Sue Farrington Smith MBE, chief executive of the charity, comments: 'Wearing a hat for the day is a simple and fun way of raising awareness and money. It also sends a great message of hope, solidarity and support for patients and their families and those like me who have lost a loved one to this dreadful disease.
