Brave staff members from Specsavers in Stirling took on the ice bucket challenge to raise money for charity. 

Optometrists, Laura Wilson and Martin Haggerty took part, along with optical assistants, Shabir Akil, Carolyn McGurk and Craig Middlehurst. 

The team were also joined in their icy challenge by store receptionist Ann Goodbrand and dispensing optician Scott Currie.


Staff taking part donated their proceedings to a number of local charities, including Motor Neurone Disease Scotland, Macmillan Cancer Research, Strathcarron Hospice and Yorkhill Children's Hospital.

Susanne Akil, retail director, says: ‘The ice bucket challenge is a great way to raise awareness and vital funds for charity, and Specsavers in Stirling is delighted to get involved. 

‘We are very proud of the five brave staff members who offered to have ice cold water thrown over them to raise money for charity. 

‘We would like to those have supported the staff and who came along to watch on the day!’

Staff completed the challenge outside the store, with a crowd of spectators watching the challenge, and nominated Specsavers in Alloa and Specsavers in Livingston to complete the challenge next.
