Staff from Specsavers in Ferryquay Street and Crescent Link have raised over £3000 for Foyle Hospice in memory of their much-loved colleague Michelle Doherty.
Michelle passed away after a short illness in February of this year and had asked her Specsavers ‘family’ to raise funds as she had been treated so wonderfully at the hospice and really appreciated all the love and support the Foyle Hospice had given her.
The Specsavers Derry ~Londonderry team undertook a range of fundraising activities including the hospice’s popular Female WALK RUN, wearing specially created ‘Team Michelle’ t-shirts.
Born and bred in Derry, Michelle Doherty was part of the team who opened the Ferryquay Street store back in 1994 and became its store manager in 2005.
Foyle Hospice is fabulous
Store director Maeve Walsh said: 'All our staff really enjoyed raising money in memory of Michelle and threw themselves wholeheartedly into everything they did. The Foyle Hospice is such a fantastic place and looks after so many people from the Derry~Londonderry region. We would also like to thank our customers and everyone who donated – we really appreciated everyone’s support.'
