Specsavers' Southampton opticians recently hosted some furry customers - in the form of working guide dogs - and collected plenty of pounds for their paws, raising vital funds in support of Guide Dogs for the blind.
Giant dog costume
Staff held a day of fundraising and collected donations for Guide Dogs. To ensure the pups felt at home and to help raise precious funds, the Guide Dogs were joined by a member of staff dressed in a giant dog costume. Fortunately, due to their superb training, they were not phased at all by the busy retail environment and behaved perfectly.
Support for a great cause
Richard Morgan, store director in Southampton, says: ‘Guide Dogs does a lot of fantastic work in the community and we were delighted that we were able to invite the puppies into the store in support of such a great cause.
‘We would like to thank the local people of Southampton for their generosity and for helping us raise an impressive amount.’
UK's largest charity that provides assistance dogs
Guide Dogs is the UK’s largest charity that has provided assistance dogs for 29,000 blind and partially sighted people to date. Specsavers stores are raising money for the charity as part of a nationwide initiative to raise £250,000 to support a further 25 puppies from training to qualification.
