Specsavers sets sights on raising funds for Edinburgh youngster
Big-hearted staff from Specsavers in Asda at The Jewel shopping Centre recently turned the store’s 25th birthday celebration into a charity fundraiser, raising an impressive £670.
Staff at the Edinburgh store used the birthday party to help drum up support for their fundraising campaign to buy a custom-made car seat for Edinburgh youngster Lucy Abeels, who has spina bifida.
Guest of honour Lucy stopped by the store to join in the party, which had an 80s theme.
Staff dressed up in an array of colourful costumes and organised a host of activities, including face painting, balloon modelling and the chance to win prizes, including a fantastic retro sweet hamper.
Tracey Galloway, store director, said: 'Staff at the store knew there would be lots of people dropping by for our birthday celebrations and wanted to use the event to do something for the community which we have now served for a quarter of a century!
'We are delighted to have contributed to Lucy’s fundraising to the tune of £670 and were thrilled that she and her family stopped by the store on the day.
'A huge thank you to all of our customers who gave extremely generously as well as to staff for organising the event.'
