Specsavers scores Brownie points
Specsavers in Skipton was recently visited by their local Brownie group, with an aim of showing them the ins and outs of the world of optometry.
The 20 strong group from Skipton Brownies needed to earn their Minions Badge, so spent some time in store being given a small tour and mini demonstrations of the various pieces of equipment and examination techniques.
They were also taken through the process of an eye test include, as well as given samples of contact lenses and Minions frames to look at.
To finish the day off, the group was asked to design a frame for which they were all awarded a prize and goody bags for their bright and colourful efforts.
A word from the Director
Justine Sturtivant, store director at Skipton Specsavers says: “It’s really important that we teach and educate young people on the significance of looking after our eyes. They can reveal what is going on inside of our bodies, so regular tests, even if you don’t wear glasses is recommended.
“We loved having Skipton Brownies visit to show them what we do here. Some children can get nervous when having their eyes tested, especially if it’s their first so we wanted to show them that it’s both fun and interesting.”
