Specsavers save the day for an international footballer
Staff at Specsavers in Rugeley helped an international football player keep his eyes on the ball when he paid a surprise visit to the store.
South Korean defender, Joo-Ho Park, lost his luggage in transit to the St George’s Park National Football Centre in Burton-on-Trent where he was training with his German club, Mainz 05.
Mr Park, who recently returned from Brazil, was in need of his contact lenses which were in his missing bags.
A call to the Rugeley Specsavers store on Upper Brook Street enabled Mr Park to have a sight test within the hour.
Minal Naik, Store director, said: ‘We were delighted to help out an international footballer here in Rugeley and his visit created a real buzz amongst our staff.
We provided him with a supply of contact lenses and a free pair of designer specs.
‘When one of the staff went to deliver the glasses to him the following day, we were kindly presented with a football shirt signed by the Mainz 05 football team. The club have also offered us free tickets if we would like to see them play at their home ground at the Coface Arena in Mainz.
‘Mr Park said that he really enjoyed his visit to the store and it lifted his spirits after losing his luggage.’
