IOW Specsavers' stores in Ryde and Newport want to say a big thank you to local residents for donating old frames to help a great charitable cause.
Supporting Vision Aid Overseas
For many years, the stores have asked locals to search their home, car and desk at work for old, unwanted frames. By simply dropping off these old frames in the collection box in store, money is then raised by recycling the parts to help charity, Vision Aid Overseas support its work in developing countries.
Directors, Tim and Catherine Kidd say....
'We’re absolutely thrilled with the continuing support we’ve had from residents in Ryde and Newport who donate their frames. We probably collect around 1500+ pairs each year and the money can then help those less fortunate than us to get access to eye health services that can potentially save people's sight.'
Specsavers supports Vision Aid Overseas for the last decade
From all the money raised, great causes have been supported such as funding the construction of a school for optometry in Zambia’s capital, Lusaka, and the opening of vision centres in each of the country’s nine provinces.
