Portishead team puts animal sanctuary in the frame
Specsavers Portishead is continuing its support of Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary by sponsoring an event at its annual fun day on Sunday 20 September.
Visitors will be treated to a variety of dog show classes on the day – one of which will be sponsored by Specsavers in The Precinct – as well as having the chance to take part in agility demonstrations. While games and activities keep younger visitors entertained, the Sanctuary’s raffle will also put customers in the running to win a Specsavers eyecare voucher.
Pip Sharp, contact lens supervisor at Specsavers and volunteer at Holly Hedge, said: ‘I’ve been volunteering with Holly Hedge for a few years now and it’s fantastic to have the support of the store with events like this. The charity does some great work and relies on donations from the public to continue to care for animals that have been abandoned and often mistreated.’
Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary is a local independent charity that rescues and re-homes around 800 cats and dogs each year. Costing £475,000 per year to run, the charity doesn’t receive any government or National Lottery funding, relying on the goodwill of supporters to keep its kennel and cattery doors open. Fun Day 2015 will be held at Ashton Court Estate between 11am and 4pm.
