Magda – senior dispensing consultant
Magda has just completed her Level 4 Certificate in Optical Dispensing. This spring she will have been with the team for three years.
Magda said: I’m originally from Poland, and moved over to the UK with my family around 14 years ago. While I was at college in Burnham, I still wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to do… and then I found optometry.
‘When I first joined it was all pretty new to me, but I jumped straight in. I particularly enjoy helping people and problem solving – which I get to do on a daily basis here.
In my spare time you’ll find me at the gym, so if there are any fundraising challenges in store I’m always keen to get involved!’
Joanna – contact lens supervisor
Four years ago, Joanna was in Windsor looking for a dress for her cousin’s wedding but little did she know this would lead to a job!
‘I used to work at the Ealing Broadway store, but left when I moved to Burnham to start a family. Whilst on maternity leave, I was shopping in town when I saw an advertisement in the window looking for staff.
‘I walked straight in and asked about the position! With my son at nursery I thought; why not? Rupal called me after our initial chat in store and I joined shortly after.
‘The small and supportive team here meant I learnt so much in my first year, and I have continued learning every day since. Contact lenses were always of interest to me so I am pleased to have worked my way up, taking opportunities as they arise.’
Jay – resident optometrist
Having recently completed his qualifications, Jay is now the resident optometrist at Windsor.
Jay said: ‘I started here as a pretty shy optical assistant in 2013, having studied optometry at University.
‘Since then I have grown in confidence both personally and clinically, which is largely due to the team dynamic. I really enjoy it here – I live in Slough but spend so much time in Windsor socially, it makes sense for me to work here and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
‘My name is actually Jaskaran but everyone calls me Jay, it’s much easier!’
