Winchester calls for Christmas aid
Specsavers in Winchester is calling on the community to help them bring some Christmas cheer to people living in challenging conditions in Africa.
Trip for charity mission
Krupesh and Malini Barchha, store directors at Specsavers Winchester, are preparing to travel to Nairobi in Kenya in December to provide care and basic supplies to those in need. The couple are planning to visit a children’s orphanage and a slum area to hand out food, blankets, maize flour bags and gifts such as books and pencils to children.
They have already pledged to donate £300 towards the mission and are continuing to raise funds with contributions from spectacle repairs at the store.
'Any donations greatly appreciated'
Krupesh said: ‘Christmas is a time of giving and thinking about others, so we are aiming to do our part by bringing toys and gifts to those living in need in Nairobi. We are also calling on the local community to support us in our cause so any donations we receive will be greatly appreciated.’
Malini adds: ‘We are hoping to raise our target amount before we travel and all donations we receive will be going directly to those in need, so we are asking our community to give generously to the cause.’
