Opticians raise money for Comic Relief
This Red Nose Day saw members of staff from a local optician do their bit for Comic Relief by raising funds for the cause through various activities, including a sponsored waxing.
Brave staff member
Staff from Specsavers in Whitby hosted a tombola and nominated brave staff member Joe Barlow, a lab technician at the store on New Quay Road, to have his legs waxed for the charity.
All monies raised from entries and sponsorships were in aid of Comic Relief.
The team at the Whitby store also sold novelty Red Nose Day glasses, and altogether the store raised a fantastic £542 for the charity.
Norman Cole, store director at Specsavers in Whitby, said: ‘We’re thrilled by the money we’ve raised for Comic Relief, and in Joe’s bravery putting himself forward for the waxing!
‘It might be a bit of fun, but we’ve managed to raise a great amount of money for a fantastic cause.’
