Tinnitus has been highlighted by the Specsavers audiology team. They have been available in store to offering guidance on how to manage the condition which currently has no known cure.

Audiologist director at Specsavers in Weston-super-mare, Angie Bull said: ‘You might be familiar with the temporary ringing in your ears after attending a loud concert or sporting event, but for some, the struggle with this constant internal buzzing affects their life on a daily basis.’

Celebrity sufferers

Personalities who suffer from tinnitus include Chris Martin, Pro Green, and will.i.am. Recently, Jo Whiley – one of the most recognisable voices in British radio who has graced the UK’s soundwaves for nearly 25 years – has spoken out about the condition.

Jo said: ‘My tinnitus tends to flare up if I’ve been at a gig, DJing at a club, or wearing headphones for long periods of time which is frustrating as I love live music. It can affect me for days afterwards and I have a constant whistle in my ears which can be hard to live with.
