Putting charities in the frame
The team at Specsavers in West Bridgford are appealing to the local community to help decide their charity of the year for 2018.
Every year, the store nominates a charity it supports for the entire year, with all proceeds from the team’s fundraising efforts going towards their chosen charity.
Last year’s cause was Help for Heroes, with fundraising activities that included; three members of the store's team completing the Robin Hood Half Marathon, a summer tombola and a bake sale - raising more than £700 in total.
Help from local community
Now the Specsavers’ team are appealing for the local community to help them decide which charity they should support for 2018.
‘Our charity of the year is something we're really proud of. We are committed to supporting the local community and want to continue to give something back,’ said store director, Stephen Rogers.
The store on Central Avenue already sponsors the West Bridgford Rugby Club and the team visited two the local primary schools recently to educate the children of West Bridgford about the importance of eye health.
Suggestions from customers
‘This year, we would like suggestions from our customers for a charity which resonates with the local community,’ added Stephen.
To vote, all you have to do is pop into the store on Central Avenue and write your suggested charity on a voting slip, and place it in the ballot box. Voting is open between Friday 1 December and Sunday 24 December, and the charity with the most votes will be announced early in the New Year.
