West Wickham director hits the headlines
You may have seen Specsavers West Wickham store director, Bamini Raj in the news recently, with her insightful comments ahead of this year’s National Eye Health Week.
Bamini was commenting on the results of a recent study conducted by both Specsavers and the RNIB. The report found that almost six million people in the UK currently live with sight-threatening conditions, yet 25 per cent of people are not having an eye test every two years as recommended by the College of Optometrists.
The extent of the problem means that nearly every family in Britain is touched by sight problems in some way.
The story was featured on Page 6 of the Biggin Hill News, Bromley Borough News and the Orpington News as well as online on the Orpington Today website. A link to the online article can be found here.
Bamini Raj, store director at Specsavers West Wickham, said: ‘Some of the findings of the research were incredibly shocking and it is our job to ensure that we are raising awareness of the importance of regular eye tests.’
‘The idea that people are significantly more likely to prioritise their mobile phone contracts and new pairs of trainers over their eye health is really quite troubling and we implore everyone to make sure they don’t take their vision for granted and have an eye examination soon.’
