Marathon effort for Great Ormond Street
Andrew Durrant, a dispensing optician and director at Specsavers in Welwyn Garden City, took part in the October’s Royal Parks series, raising £850 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
The store director took on a half marathon course and had the backing of his Specsavers colleagues, who installed a fundraising tin in store in the run up to the race.
A word from the store director
Andrew said: ‘You can’t fail to be moved by the work carried out by Great Ormond Street Hospital and its charity supports everything from research to modernisation at the hospital.
‘I was spurred on during my training by the thought of making a difference for the young people under the hospital’s care today and for those who will need their services in the future.
‘I’m so grateful for all the support, which has helped me smash my £750 fundraising target.’
