The team at the Welwyn Garden City Specsavers store put their culinary skills to the test on the weekend by baking cakes to raise cash for Comic Relief, they raised £172. Customers were treated to a delightful array of baked goods in return for a donation to the cause.

Fundraise for Comic Relief

Welwyn Garden City Specsavers asked visitors to join in with this year’s Comic Relief theme ‘give us a wave’ by purchasing a pair of wacky waving-hand glasses for just £2 to support the charity. Red Nose Day fell on Friday 24 March, and all money raised from the sale of specs was donated to Comic Relief.

For a good cause

Andrew Durrant, dispensing optician at Specsavers Welwyn Garden City, said: ‘The team are always thinking of fun ways to raise money for a good cause. Our Comic Relief activity is a really easy way for Welwyn Garden City residents to make a big difference collectively to this amazing cause.

'For just £2, we can help vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa.’
