Looking for the next generation in Tunbridge Wells
Specsavers Tunbridge Wells are always on the lookout for the next generation of optometrists – and they recently took that search to a careers event at Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Girls.
The event, open to students from other local schools too, gave the store in Mount Pleasant Road the chance to highlight a new website called ‘A Career with a View'.
It is designed to highlight the benefits of a career in optometry to science, technology, english and maths (STEM) students – and the career opportunities that could be available to them at Specsavers.
Ian Hyland, store director in Tunbridge Wells, said: ‘We want to help open young people’s eyes to the idea of a career in optometry.
‘We have tailored career support packages for students in year 9 and year 12, as well as offering store visits, work experience and support through university for people who want to study optometry. Specsavers really is a terrific place for young people to build a career.’
‘And that applies in non-clinical roles too. A number of Specsavers store managers and even store directors started with the organisation in junior roles and climbed through the ranks.
'The most important thing to build a career with us is the right attitude and a real enthusiasm for eyecare or audiology.
