After encouraging local residents to bring their old glasses in store, Thetford has received 500 specs to donate to international sight charity Vision Aid Overseas, helping people living in poverty to have access to eye care.
What happens next?
Thanks to these generous donations, VAO are able to build the expertise of local and national institutions in underprivileged countries through training, education and developing infrastructure for the supply of affordable glasses.
Just keep on giving
Store director Paul Clark, said: ‘We’re amazed at the generous contributions this year. It’s wonderful that the sale of the reusable materials from these glasses will help create a positive effect on the lives of people less fortunate.
‘We’re so passionate about delivering high quality and affordable eye care in Thetford, so to be able to extend that to countries that aren’t so fortunate is amazing. If you have any unwanted specs lying around feel free to bring them in store and donate - even the smallest donation can make a big impact.’
