The team at Specsavers in Brecon has thanked its local community for its support in helping raise more than £1,200 for Comic Relief.

Raised an impressive amount

Staff at Specsavers in Brecon visited Llanfaes Primary School, Mount Street Junior School and Brecon High School to take part in various fun runs and fancy dress days across the schools on Red Nose Day.

In the lead up to the day, the High Street store sold comedy waving hand glasses for £2 and also held a fitness fundraiser, seeing members of the team swim 10 miles and cover more than 200 miles on a static bike in-store. The team raised an impressive £1,200 in total.

Comic Relief aims to tackle poverty and social injustice in the UK and further afield. Specsavers has been a partner of the charity since 2015.

'Want to say a huge thank you'

Donna Like, store director at Specsavers in Brecon, said: ‘We set a really high bar this year and would like to say a huge thank you to the Brecon community for supporting us – whether it was through generous donations, getting silly at school or clapping us through our miles on the bike, the support made it all worthwhile.

‘Comic Relief provides vital help for those less fortunate, so we knew we had to do something to try to make a difference. We are thrilled with our total and without our customers and members of the local community, we would never have raised this impressive amount.’
