Specsavers in Swindon is welcoming a giant walking ear to raise awareness in the local community about caring for your ears.

The Specsavers team will be walking the streets of Swindon in their hearing t-shirts handing out leaflets alongside the Big Ear. They will also be inviting customers and passers-by to use a clever piece of technology, called an AudioPad, which carries out a hearing test using a tablet and headphones.

As well as highlighting the importance of regular hearing checks, a representative from leading hearing aid manufacturer, Sivantos, will be doing live demonstrations.

A word from the store audiology director

‘Hearing loss can affect every aspect of a person’s life and can often be quite isolating,’ said audiology director, Kane Akers. ‘While most people know that it’s important to get their eyes examined regularly as part of a full health check, fewer people realise the importance of a simple hearing check.

‘This is a fun way to raise awareness about the importance of hearing care and regular hearing checks. We hope to see lots of friendly faces on the day.’
