Specsavers stores in both Shipley and Idle donated toys and gifts to those in need at Christmas as part of Radio Aire’s most recent Mission Christmas campaign.
An appeal run by charity Cash for Kids, the store asked customers to give any presents they could spare, so that children living in poverty in Britain could still have something to open on Christmas day.
The largest annual Christmas toy appeal in the UK, this year’s collection generated more than £17.5 million worth of gifts and donations, and was distributed to more than 399,149 children.
A word from the store director
Bhrat Phakey, store director at Specsavers in Shipley and Idle, said: ‘Every child deserves to wake up on Christmas morning with a present under the tree.
‘Christmas for some is a luxury that some just can’t afford, so we were more than happy to collect presents so that each and every child could enjoy the big day.’
