Specsavers Stirling partners with Strathcarron Hospice
Specsavers Stirling have signed a partnership with Strathcarron Hospice. We have pledged to support Strathcarron Hospice, which cares for people in the local area with illnesses that cannot be cured, including cancer, respiratory and heart conditions and neurological diseases.
The store has committed to hosting quarterly fundraisers throughout 2015 to raise vital funds for the charity, whilst raising awareness of the work the hospice carries out.
This includes special palliative care services, as well as home visits across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.
Supporting the local community
Store director, Susanne Akil said: ‘Our store works hard to support our local community, staff and customers, and we wanted to show our commitment to a charity that has a big place in the hearts of residents in the Forth Valley area.
We decided to form a charity partnership after visiting the centre to experience the great work, support and dedication carried out by staff and volunteers.
We already organise regular fundraising activities in-store, including coffee mornings, competitions and sponsored events. We also offer a discount on glasses to all staff-members, volunteers, family and friends of the hospice.
Help the Stirling store fundraise
‘We hope that customers and passers-by will continue to support us as we try to raise as much money as possible for Strathcarron.’
Angela Gillies from Strathcarron Hospice said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Specsavers Stirling as a charity partner. The store has greatly supported us over the past few years and it’s lovely to cement this support in a partnership and we look forward to working with them in the future.’
The hospice is only part-funded by the NHS and needs to raise over £75,000 every week to continue giving the free care relied upon by so many in the community.
