The opticians in Ayr has raised £750 in aid of Comic Relief following a series of Red Nose Day fundraising events.

Gruelling climb to the highest point on the Isle of Arran

Staff from Specsavers in Ayr completed a gruelling sponsored climb to Goat Fell, the highest point on the Isle of Arran at 2,866ft. A range of additional fundraising activities were also held in the store to encourage staff to dig deep for the charity.

They held a raffle to win an extra day off work, a cheesecake bake sale and a ‘bushtucker trial’-style game, in which staff were able to bid for another member of the team to eat an unusual dish.

Team building activity

Linda Fulton, store director at Specsavers in Ayr, said: ‘Scaling Goat Fell was a fantastic team building activity and helped us raise a fantastic amount for Comic Relief.

‘The team was spurred on to reach the peak by the support of everyone who had sponsored us.

‘Our staff really embraced the opportunity to support a very worthy cause and organised some really creative activities to encourage everyone to part with their cash.’
