Staff from Specsavers in Bradley Stoke, Cribbs Causeway and Filton took part in the Tough Mudder challenge on Friday 18 May and raised more than £400 for children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.
Working together as a team, called ‘no eye in team,’ store directors, Gaurav Patel and Vivek Lakhanpaul joined lead optometrist, James Lam and in-store trainer, Julie Rafferty to tackle the 5k obstacle course.
‘The race was great fun and we all helped each other along the way,’ said Gaurav. ‘The feeling of accomplishment after was like no other and we would highly recommend Tough Mudder to anyone wanting to take on a fundraising challenge.
‘We’d like to thank everyone who has made a donation so far and contributed to our ongoing mission to raise as much as possible for CLIC Sargent this year. Our fundraising page is still open, and you can donate here, any contribution is greatly appreciated.’
Specsavers in Cribbs Causeway, Bradley Stoke and Filton have come together and nominated CLIC Sargent as their charity of the year for 2018. In a bid to raise as much money as possible for the children’s cancer charity, employees are taking part in a number of fundraising challenges and events throughout the year.
About the charity
CLIC Sargent provides practical, financial and emotional support for children and teenagers who have been diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia. The charity believes that children with cancer have the right to the best possible treatment, care and support throughout their cancer journey and beyond.
Every donation makes a difference. £4 could pay for a CLIC Sargent storybook that explains childhood cancer to children in simple, easy to understand language. £15 could pay for a copy of CLIC Sargent’s DVD to help bereaved families understand and cope with their grief and a generous £46 could pay for a CLIC Sargent Social Worker to be there soon after diagnosis, giving a family one-to-one support.
