Optical assistants Matthew Poots and Saoirse O’Neill are some of the staff helping to raise money for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

Staff at Specsavers stores in Portadown and Craigavon are holding special spinathon events to fundraise for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

It’s hoped that as many as possible of the 30 staff in Craigavon and 20 staff in Portadown will take part in the events which run at the Portadown store on High Street on Friday February 17 and at Craigavon in Rushmere Shopping Centre on Saturday 18 February.

Care for life limiting conditions

Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is the only service of its type in Northern Ireland caring for babies, children and young people with life limiting or life threatening conditions.

Peter Rice, a store director of both the Portadown and Craigavon stores, said: 'We’re delighted that so many of our staff are keen to take part in the spinathon.

Appeal for support

'We’d love to see our customers come and support us and give generously to a very important cause. Every penny raised will go to help very ill babies and children here in Northern Ireland.'

The Portadown store is also holding a name the bear competition which customers can enter for £1.
