Stopping traffic on the street
On Saturday 20th May, Specsavers in South Harrow celebrated its 10th birthday anniversary.
To mark the milestone anniversary, the company’s iconic dancing grannies, who stopped traffic as they ‘got down to the beats on the street’ outside the store. Click here to view a selection of videos of the scenes.
Meanwhile, South Harrow councillor Rekha Shah was on hand to cut the ceremonial birthday cake following a lunchtime banquet for customers and staff put on by the store’s directors.
They were joined by Matt Rising, Specsavers relationship manager, and Mike Rowe, Specsavers divisional relationship manager for London. Mike was also celebrating a milestone on the day – his first job at Specsavers was to officially open the South Harrow store a decade ago.
Hard work and dedication
Ekta Kumar, store director at Specsavers South Harrow, awarded Mike with the prestigious engraved star award on behalf of the whole of Specsavers, to thank him for his hard work and dedication over the years.
Further activity on the day included a raffle prize draw, with fantastic prizes such as beach balls, water bottles, t-shirts and glasses cases up for grabs. The South Harrow team also gave away over 40 free eye examinations to customers throughout the day.
Ekta says: ‘Having joined the business in 2008, I remember the first few year of the store opening as if it was yesterday - I can’t believe it has been a decade since then.
‘It felt right that we’ve celebrate the milestone with all local residents and I can’t believe how many of our customers have come out today to join our celebrations - I feel it’s a real accolade to my team how warmly the local community have welcomed us and adopted us as their own.’
After the eventful day, Ekta and fellow store director, Adam Shackle, took the whole South Harrow optics team to a local restaurant to say a big thank you for their hard work and dedication.
