The team in Acomb have celebrated a major fundraising boost after running two charity events in March.
The staff put their own spin on the Eye2Eye Walk, which took place in London earlier this month and cycled the 22.5km distance in store on an exercise bike. Each member of the Acomb Specsavers team took part and worked up a sweat to help clock up the distance.
Comic Relief was a success too, with customers digging team and buying the Acomb Specsavers team’s homemade cakes and treats. The store sold 450 of Specsavers’ Red Nose Day comedy waving hand glasses.
Fantastic fortnight of fundraising
The team’s efforts during March meant that they raised just over £500 which will be donated to Comic Relief and Moorfields Eye Charity.
Store director, Stephen McEnaney, said: ‘We would like to thank all of our customers who helped us to raise so much money. I have a great team who are always so willing to get involved and do their bit for charity. I’d also like to extend a huge thank you to our very generous customers who are always willing to support us.’
