Specsavers Sevenoaks were at the heart of the festive celebrations in the town this year.

Store director (and town mayor) Maxine Chakowa even switched on the Christmas lights – with a little help from the all-star cast of the local pantomime this year, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

The store, in the High Street, hosted Santa’s Grotto on the day too, and raised over £200 for Breast Cancer Care (the mayors charity for this year).

Honoured and delighted

Maxine Chakowa, store director in Sevenoaks, said: ‘I was honoured and delighted to switch on the Christmas lights in my role as town mayor. It was great to meet the pantomime cast too, ahead of what I am sure will be a really successful run at the Stag Theatre.

‘We were really pleased to be able to host Santa’s Grotto in store at Specsavers, and to raise £200 for Breast Cancer Care at the same time.

‘We have been part of the community in Sevenoaks for many years now, and I am glad that my role as mayor has given me a chance to get even more involved.’

Treat yourself to an eye test

‘We will be open right up until Christmas, so if you fancy taking a break from all that festive shopping to have an eye test for just a fiver – you do not even need a voucher – and maybe grab yourself a new pair of frames as a treat, why not pop in and see us.’
