Specsavers Seaford would like to say a massive thank you to customers for their generous support of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

The Broad Street store has just been able to hand over a whopping £107.88 (and a stray chocolate coin) to the charity.

And it is all thanks to customers dropping their spare change into the collection boat.

Vital emergency service

Founded in 1803, the nearby Newhaven Lifeboat Station is one of the oldest in the UK.

The station is almost completely staffed by volunteers, and provides a vital emergency service along the coastline. So all donations really do make a difference.

Thank you

Chris Titherington, store director in Seaford, said: ‘We were delighted to be able to hand over such a sizeable sum to the RNLI, and would like to thank our customers for being so generous. We have been told the local branch has never been donated a chocolate coin before too, so we are pleased to be trendsetters.

‘The charity does a really important job in often tricky circumstances, and we are honoured to be able to help them raise funds to continue their work.’
