A character building fundraiser for Comic Relief
Specsavers Romford has made a huge donation of £1,074 to this year’s Comic Relief through a host of activities and the sale of 377 comedy waving specs.
Raffle in red
Store staff helped get customers in the Comic Relief spirit by spending the week dressed up as their favourite characters, including Minnie Mouse and Where’s Wally, all while making sure to #GiveUsAWave.
The store also raised funds with an auction for brand new glasses and held a raffle giving away prizes donated by local businesses. This included a month’s gym membership from Fitness First, two cinema tickets from Vue and a cut and styling from Rush hairdressers.
Let them eat cake
The team topped off the charity extravaganza with tea and cakes - with teacups generously donated by Poppins Café - to provide local shoppers with some energy after a whirlwind of charitable activity.
Store director Bhavi Mistry said: ‘These events are such a great chance to rally the community together to raise money for such worthwhile causes. Thank you to everyone who purchased a pair of wavy specs and supported us throughout the week.
‘It’s great to get the chance to team up with local businesses and help each other out when and where we can.’
