Redhill toy appeal for Christmas
Specsavers in Redhill is supporting a local cause for Christmas and is encouraging the local community to donate new toys to help families.
The toy donation appeal is for Welcare, a charity that works with local children and families. It helps parents and carers use their strengths and skills to nurture happy and confident children. One small step to make a difference is by donating a toy.
Store director, Nick Bradshaw, said: 'We expect that our staff, customers and the wider community will really get behind this great campaign to donate a toy to a family in need. During this season of goodwill, this initiative is a really simple way to make a difference.
'Every child deserves a Christmas to remember, and we wanted to do something active to support a local cause in need. I am certain residents of Redhill will really embrace it and I want thank everyone in advance for helping us collect a generous collection of children’s toys.'
What you need to do
The campaign asks people to buy an extra toy and drop it off at the toy appeal box that is now available in the store. Donors are asked to drop off new and unwrapped gifts so they can be easily sorted into age group categories.
Welcare advises that they are short of toys for older children aged 10 years upwards and boys’ toys. The last day for collection will be Wednesday 20 December.
Welcare express their thanks
Lynn James, Welcare Children's Centre Manager said: 'We provide practical help and support to families, empowering them to rebuild their lives and access opportunities to ensure their children have a happy, confident childhood and future.
'Providing parents and carers with presents to give to their children is one small gesture we can make to take away the pressures often felt by many this time of the year.'
