Members of staff at Specsavers Dumfries took part in Movember and raised more than £600

Generous staff and customers at Specsavers in Dumfries have handed over hundreds of pounds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Staff at the Specsavers store in the Loreburne Shopping Centre made the donation after collecting in £646 in sponsorship and at the end of 2016, following a Movember fundraiser.

The popular annual fundraising event encourages men to grow moustaches for the cause.

Money for a great cause

Store director Jill Dickson, said: ‘All the guys were really good sports and everyone in the store got into the spirit of things to raise money for a great cause.

‘As we move into 2017 many of them are back sporting their moustache-free look again, but say they’d do it all over again next time the event comes around after their fundraising success.

‘We would like to thank all of the staff for getting involved and generating such an impressive sum for an extremely worthy charity.’
