STAFF at Specsavers rolled up their sleeves, donned aprons and lifted their whisks to raise funds for a cause very close to their hearts.
A plethora of sweet delights were baked and laid on in store for customers and local shoppers to purchase over the weekend of 29 September. The team managed to raise £70 for their efforts and a cheque has now gone off to the charity, Sunny Days.
Sunny Days Children's Fund is a national registered charity that helps children under the age of 18 years with a wide range of adverse medical conditions including leukaemia, cerebral palsy, the deaf and blind, terminal illnesses, and all other life hindering conditions.
The charity’s funds goes towards helping as many children and their families as possible, whether it be for day trips, medical equipment, respite, hospital travel, or sadly making children's remaining time as comfortable as possible, to include where achievable, children's last wishes.
A word from the store director
Says Julia Moulton, store director: ‘We wanted to play our small part in supporting such an amazing charity. The emotional and practical support offered by Sunny Days is a life-line for many and it resonated strongly with the team here at Specsavers – many of whom are parents.
‘A big thank you though has to go to customers who purchased cakes over the weekend. We appreciate everyone’s support, and Sunny Days is very grateful for the contributions made over the two days.’
