Specsavers Perth rasied over £416 for RNIB

Specsavers Perth raised over £416 for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) ahead of National Eye Health Week (18-24 September).

Wear dots raise lots

The store hosted a ‘wear dots raise lots’ party on 2 September, with staff dressing in polka dots and baking up a storm to raise vital funds for RNIB.

Mr Blobby greeted customers, with Costa Coffee providing complimentary tea, coffee and iced drinks, to accompany the tasty dotty treats at the bake sale.

As well as a tombola with top prizes and hamper raffles, store manager Elaine White brought Rebus the Labrador into the store, who got involved by sporting a dotty neckerchief.

As part of the celebrations, the store also offered one lucky customer, Susan Henderson, who purchased her glasses during the day a full refund, giving her a free pair of specs.

Increasing awareness

The partnership between Specsavers and RNIB not only saw Specsavers in Perth raising money for the charity, but will also focus on increasing awareness of the importance of regular eye tests in preventing people from needlessly losing their sight.

Sharon Philip, store director at Specsavers in Perth, said: ‘The staff had a great time during our fundraising event and we would like to thank our customers for their continued support.

‘It is a pleasure to support the charity and join forces with it to encourage as many people as possible in the town to have regular eye tests.

‘Our mission, together with the RNIB, is to transform the nation’s eye health through education, awareness and action; we want to reverse the worrying eye health trends that are putting unnecessary pressure on the health service and placing a massive burden on the public purse.’

Specsavers stores across the country will be engaging in a multitude of fundraising activities throughout the week, including colourful and fun seasonal events, sponsored challenges and providing collection tins in-store.
