An Oban opticians raised £98.30 for Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) through a sugary fundraiser in store during National Eye Health Awareness week.

Specsavers Oban hosted a cake sale of home-baked delights and chocolate treats with funds from every donation going straight to charity. The George Street opticians was fundraising during the national week to help raise vital funds for RNIB but also awareness of the importance of regular eye health checks.

RNIB is one of the UK’s leading sight loss charities and the largest community of blind and partially sighted people.

Ken Macdonald, store director at Specsavers Oban, said: ‘The team made a great effort – we have some fantastic bakers in store. Customers and visitors could pick from cupcakes, traybakes, crispy cakes or a lemon drizzle loaf with every sale contributing to our fundraising total.

‘A big thank you to everyone who donated and our star bakers in store too.’
