Generous customers at Specsavers in Northampton have donated 4,360 pairs of used specs to improve eyecare in developing countries.
The store have been supporting Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) for almost ten years, donating a staggering 41,430 pairs of glasses to date.
The collected glasses are sent to the charity and recycled to raise money for it’s charitable work.
With around 10% of the world’s population disadvantaged by poor vision, VAO is dedicated to fighting poverty by transforming access to eyecare.
A word from the store director
Nicola Aubrey, store director, said: ‘In December alone we donated 4,360 pairs of glasses, which will make a huge difference to lives in developing countries.
‘We will continue to collect old pairs of glasses for the charity and hope to reach a milestone of 50,000, so if you have any unwanted or old glasses please do not hesitate to donate them, broken or dirty, the condition is not a factor.’
