More than 1000 people across the North East have put their best specs forward and entered the annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year contest.
Entries have now closed in the competition – won by Love Island’s Alex Miller in 2017 – and specs wearers across the North East have entered in their droves.
The largest proportion of entries in the region came from the 25-34 age category, followed by the 45-59 age category.
And with national finalists to be drawn in six categories, smiling specs wearers from Northumberland to North Yorkshire who submitted their best specs selfies will now wait to find out if they’ve progressed to the next stage of the competition.
A word from Specsavers
Craig Bell, Specsavers store director in the North East, said: ‘It has been a great campaign so far this year, fronted by the fantastic Claire Richards from Steps.
'There is nothing quite like the Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition and it has raised such a fantastic sum for anti-bullying charity Kidscape over the years.
'Fingers crossed we have a finalist here in the North East, and who knows, even a winner!'
