Accepting donations for Tŷ Hafan
To mark Children’s Hospice Week (22 – 28 May), the team at Specsavers in Newtown is encouraging local residents to drop off unwanted items for Welsh children’s charity Tŷ Hafan.
Donate old items
Throughout the week, staff at the Broad Street store will be accepting donations - including of clothes, homeware, books, furniture and electronics - for the south Wales hospice, which it has selected as its charity of the year.
The items will be bagged and sent to the nearest Tŷ Hafan retail store, located in Aberystwyth, where their sale will raise much-needed funds for its work.
Children’s Hospice Week aims to raise awareness of children with life-limiting conditions, celebrating the lifeline services that these children and their families rely on. Tŷ Hafan has provided vital support to hundreds of children across Wales since opening in 1999.
‘Proud to be collecting donations’
Helen Paxon, store manager at Specsavers in Newtown, says: ‘Tŷ Hafan is a charity that is providing a vital service to children and their families. Anything that we can do to help the cause, whether through traditional fundraising or collecting donations, will add to our efforts to support them this year.
‘Children’s Hospice Week is the perfect time to do your part for a local hospice. Each donation – however big or small – will be hugely appreciated.’
The team are unable to accept video tapes, cassettes, analogue TVs or upholstered furniture without a fire safety label.
