Meet the Newton Mearns store director
Meet 29 year old Emma Robb, store director at Specsavers in Newton Mearns.
Emma started working with Specsavers in 2005 when she completed a work experience placement whilst she was still at school. After leaving school Emma continued her job within the company alongside studying Optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University, and has now been a qualified Optometrist for 5 and a half years.
Emma has also completed an extra qualification as an independent prescriber. This means that she is qualified to prescribe medicines for minor eye conditions which saves local residents a trip to their GP.
What Emma loves about her job
Emma says: ‘It is amazing to think that I have been working within Specsavers for 12 years now and I started back when I was in high school on work experience. It is really rewarding to be in a job that you genuinely enjoy and especially looking back at how far I have come.
‘The thing I love most about my job is being able to help members of the public with a problem they have. When they come into store and I’m able to let them walk out with a solution I get a real sense of accomplishment.’
Importance of eye tests
Emma explains: ‘It is essential that everyone goes for regular eye exams, whether they wear glasses or not. This is so that we can check their general eye health but also to rule out any systemic conditions that can be picked up during a routine eye exam.’
