Newquay local, Zowie Eggleton, aged 29, joined the store back in 2007 as a school leaver looking for a challenge.
10 years on and Zowie is celebrating career success with Specsavers in Newquay.
An eye test interview
Zowie tells how she got her job at Specsavers: ‘I felt like I needed to get out into the real world and start working like an adult. I came for my eye test at the Newquay store and spoke to director Steven Morris. He offered me a job interview at the end of my appointment! I went for the interview and the rest is history.’
University study without the worry
Zowie added: ‘The store has been very supportive in helping me achieve great success in my career. They gave me opportunities to further my education that I didn't even know I would be able to do. I thought I might have missed an opportunity to earn a degree like a lot of my friends because I didn’t go straight to university after college. However the store help me do exactly that.
‘I secured a degree in ophthalmic dispensing and the best part was that I was able to work and earn a wage at the same time so I didn’t get into debt like many students. My store director, Steven, made sure he was available to help with any work I was given and gave much needed advice when I asked.’
Valued team member
Specsavers Newquay store director, Steven Morris, commented on Zowie’s 10 years at Specsavers.
He said: ‘Zowie is a valued member of the team. She has worked hard over the years to build on her qualifications and make the most of the opportunities offered to her. She is professional and always has a smile for our customers. I look forwards to supporting Zowie over the next 10 years.’
