Eyeing up sponsorship to support sport in Newmarket
Second year in a row
The store in The Guineas Shopping Centre, has donated £800 to the club this year to help in the general upkeep of the facilities and support a range of bowling activities, from friendly non-competitive games to annual club competitions, as well as participation in national, county, district and internal club Leagues.
This is the second year in row the team have sponsored the club, bringing the total donated to £1550.
Since beginning the annual sponsorship in 2016 all members have been provided with regular free sight checks to ensure their vision is 20/20 at all times.
Chairman of the club, Jean Stephens says: ‘We are very grateful to Specsavers for their sponsorship. It is essential for the club to have the support of local business such as Specsavers as it provides us with the funding we need to keep the club running during the season.
'With more than 60 playing members, ranging from 14 to 80 years old, funding is vital to ensure the club is kept up and running as a key recreational ground. Why not come down, learn a new sport and make new friends?’
Giving back to the community
Specsavers Newmarket store director, Samantha Moore, says: ‘We are really proud to be sponsoring Newmarket Avenue Bowls Club and are happy to be giving something back to a community which has supported us as a business for over 15 years. As the official sponsor of the team we want to do all we can to make sure the players play to their full potential.
'People often take their sight for granted, and we want to make sure the team is aware of how important eye health is in sport.’
