Loughton store shows support with Specsavers t-shirts
The Specsavers store in Loughton is sponsoring an Essex-wide charity bike ride taking place this week.
The opticians have generously supplied the t-shirts for everyone taking part in the mega 60-mile bike ride for Alzheimer’s Society.
The charity cycle was organised by Specsavers regional relationship manager for Essex, Roy Thorogood, and will see Roy and Specsavers store directors from the Braintree, Brentwood, Lakeside, Leigh-on-Sea, Maldon and Southend branches take on the tough challenge.
Ravivannan Premananthan, retail manager at the Specsavers store in Loughton, said: ‘Although we’re not joining in with the bike ride this year we wanted to make sure we showed our support for such a great cause.
‘By sponsoring the charity cycle we get to be part of the big day. We’re all looking forward to cheering on everyone taking part!’
Speaking about the upcoming bike ride, Roy Thorogood said: ‘It’s a really tough challenge we’ve decided to take on but it’s all for such a great cause.
‘Dementia affects 820,000 people in the UK and around 23 million people in the UK have a close friend or family member with dementia.’
Roy added: ‘We hope to raise a great amount for the charity that will help support people suffering with the condition, as well as their families.’
Specsavers is investing in specific dementia training for staff to allow them to offer specialist customer care to those affected by the disease. In Essex, around 300 staff have completed the training programme.
