If Bansi Dhamecha from Specsavers in Islington looks familiar, there is reason. She has only gone and appeared in top London mag, Stylist!

All in a day’s work

Stylist’s weekly page, ‘Work Life’, runs a Q&A feature where they put the spotlight on interesting ladies with interesting jobs. And when they came knocking for an inspiring London optometrist, Bansi fitted the bill.

So what did we learn about Bansi?

Optometry and a passion for caring for people’s vision runs in the family. Her own mother was an optometrist. Fast forward to 2017, and here she is – director of her own store in Islington and thriving in a fast-paced industry.

What does her day look like?

Bansi straddles customer service with medical advice. From seeing toddlers to the elderly, one day is never the same.

What she really enjoys is making a difference. She talks about curing a condition called blepharitis, a condition that causes eyelid crust, for a customer who had it for ten years. She cried when she treated it in 20 minutes.

Eye health as a whole is a message she is keen to promote.
